Exposed to the changeable weather systems of the North Atlantic Ocean, the Islands can seem small and fragile. The fury of autumn and winter storms, lochs and rivers and frequent rainfall ensure that water here is omnipresent. It is a life-force of the Hebridean environment, both a giver and taker of life.
