Are you looking for a peaceful break from everyday life on an idyllic Hebridean Island where you can recharge, explore, and relax? We have a lovely, quiet double room available for b&b with stunning sea views.

You’ll have your own private shower room and toilet, probably the most comfortable period double bed you’ll ever sleep in and a healthy continental-style breakfast to start your day!

We’re south-west facing with the best sea views on Scalpay and on those balmy, sunny summer afternoons and evenings you can take advantage of your own patio area complete with a table and chairs.

Take your time, put your feet up, unwind and watch seals, otters and eagles and maybe celebrate the sun going down with a Harris gin and tonic!

Photography Tuition

You are very welcome to combine your quiet retreat on Scalpay and your love of photography with flexible tuition.

No groups, no waiting around for others, no rigid schedules to frustrate you and no car sharing. Just yourself and your partner/spouse, Steve will be your photography tutor and driver and your time on location can be as long as you wish.

To help you gain the maximum benefit from an individual 1-2-1 or 1-2-2 workshop with Steve, we’ll identify your aspirations first and work together from there. Whether you’re a beginner or a more experienced photographer and whatever your level of fitness or mobility, gender, orientation or ethnicity, you will be welcomed equally and without prejudice.

You’ll have the best immersive photography tuition to help you attain new skills and improve the skills you already have. You’ll be taken to iconic locations on Harris & Lewis and a few of Steve’s favourite ‘secret’ locations that are not frequented by other photography groups.

Film and digital photographers are welcome, I have facilities for film processing (black and white and C41 colour film) and scanning via high-end Imacon Flextight, including 35mm, all medium formats up to 6x17cm and large format 5x4”.

We’ll also work together in the studio, editing your work and making prints of your favourite images from the workshop using Fotospeed inks and archival fine art paper.
